UGC 717 is a barred spiral galaxy located in Pisces.[1][2] The galaxy is located 520 million light-years away from the Solar System. It is designated as Arp 11 in the Atlas of Peculiar Galaxies which was produced by Halton Arp.[3] UGC 717 falls under the category of spirals that have split-arms.[3] It is known to have a LINER active galactic nucleus according to SIMBAD.[4]
Type IIP supernova, SN 2009lo was discovered in UGC 717 with a magnitude of 18.2. It was positioned 6".6 west and 9".1 south of the nucleus.[5]
