North Gauhati College

North Gauhati College,( উত্তৰ গুৱাহাটী মহাবিদ্যালয়) established in year 1962, is one of the oldest general degree colleges situated in Guwahati, Assam. This college is affiliated with the Gauhati University.^[1] The College was then (in the year 1962) one and only higher educational institute of entire Northern part of the Kamrup rural district. It offers courses like Higher Secondary (12th) Arts and Science stream, Bachelor of Arts (B.A) (major/minor), Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) (major/minor), B.Voc, and some certificate courses. In the academic year 2012-2013, the College had completed 50 years of its glorious existence and celebrated as Golden jubilee year.

• Botany :The Department of Botany was started in the year 1979 with the establishment of Science Stream in the College. Dr. Nolin Chandra Borah was the founder Head of the Department. The Degree Course (B.Sc.) was begun in the year 1987. The department is well-equipped with necessary apparatus prescribed in the Regular and Honours syllabus by the Gauhati University. Besides the regular teaching in the college the students participate in field trips arranged by the department. The students and teachers of the department contribute regularly to publish the wall magazine Dubori.
