Lenrie Olatokunbo Aina (born 20 December 1950)[1] is a professor of Library and Information Science, and former National Librarian/Chief Executive Officer of the National Library of Nigeria (NLN) Abuja.[2]

Education

Professor Aina obtained a bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of Lagos, in 1974; a Postgraduate Diploma in Librarianship, from the University of Ibadan, in 1976 and an M.Phil. Information Science, City University, London,1980. In 1986, he bagged PhD in Library Studies, from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan.[3][1]

Career

Aina began his librarianship career at the University of Ibadan Library between 1976–1978. Aina earned a Professor of Library and Information Science at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria and the University of Botswana respectively.[4][3] In addition, Professor Aina is the Pioneer Editor-in-Chief of the African Journal of Library, Archives and Information Science, the only library and information science journal in Africa covered by the World acclaimed Web of Science. His research interests span all areas of library and information science. This speaks of his versatility and grip on his chosen profession.[5]

Professional membership

Professor Lenrie Olatokunbo Aina is a member and fellow of the Nigerian Library Association;[5] Member, American Library Association and Member, Institute of Information Scientists. Fellow of the Nigerian Library association (FNLA)[9]

Awards

Award of excellence from Kwara state Government in 2021.[10]
