Dolichopeza is een geslacht van tweevleugelige insecten uit de familie langpootmuggen (Tipulidae). Dit geslacht werd opgericht door John Curtis in 1825[1] voor de toen enige bekende Europese soort, die hij Dolichopeza sylvicola noemde. Deze soort was echter reeds beschreven door Hans Strøm in 1768 als Tipula albipes[2] en daarom wordt de typesoort van het geslacht aangeduid als Dolichopeza albipes (Ström).

Dolichopeza is een groot geslacht met meer dan 300 soorten, die in een elftal ondergeslachten zijn ondergebracht:[3]

De grootste daarvan zijn Dolichopeza sensu stricto, Nesopeza, Mitopeza, Oropeza, Trichodolicopeza en Megistomastix.

Het geslacht komt verspreid over de hele wereld voor. De meeste soorten komen voor in het Oriëntaals gebied.

Dolichopeza verschilt zodanig van de andere geslachten in de familie Tipulidae dat het algemeen tot een aparte onderfamilie wordt gerekend, de Dolichopezinae.[3]
