マイケル・スコット・キンメル（英: Michael S. Kimmel、1951年2月26日 - ^[1]）は、ジェンダー研究を専門とするアメリカ合衆国の社会学者。特別教授としてニューヨーク州立大学ストーニーブルック校に勤め、男性学の学術誌 Men and Masculinities を立ち上げ、長年編集者を務めた^[2]。性差別に反対する男性による組織であるNOMAS（英語版）のスポークスパーソンで^[3]、長年フェミニストとして活動している^[4]。また、ストーニーブルック校の男性と男らしさを研究する研究所を設立し、責任者を務めた^[5]。2018年には以前の学生から匿名のセクシャル・ハラスメントの告発を受け^[6]、大学側が事実関係の調査を行う前に引退した（後述）^[7]。

キンメルは宗教的でないユダヤ系の家族に生まれ^[8]、1972年にヴァッサー大学で学士を取得、1974年にブラウン大学で修士課程を修了、1981年にカリフォルニア大学バークレー校で博士号を取得した^[9]。

1982年から1986年までラトガーズ大学で助教授として務め、ニューヨーク大学で客員教授も務めた。1987年からニューヨーク州立大学ストーニーブルック校で晩年まで務めた^[9]。1992年から1994年は母校であるカリフォルニア大学バークレー校で客員教授を務めた。

キンメルはジェンダー研究の一部である男性学の研究の第一人者として知られる^[10][11]。

男性ジェンダーについての多くの著作で知られており、代表的なものに、男性の社会的行動が少年から成人男性になる過程でホモソーシャルな同調圧力などによって形成されることを研究した「Guyland（英語版）」^[11][12]、アメリカ合衆国における白人男性の怒りを研究した「Angry White Men」、マスキュリニティの歴史や事例などをまとめた百科事典「Men and Masculinities: a Social,Cultural and Historical Encyclopedia」^[13]などがある。

1992年から1993年にかけて発刊された学術誌、Masculinitiesの創刊者で、後にMen and Masculinitiesと改められ、編集者を務めた^[14]。2004年には、ニューヨーク・カーネギー財団による創造的な研究に対する奨学金の受賞者の一人に選ばれ、男性を対象としたコンテンツに現れる有害なマスキュリニティと政治的極右化の関係、ジェンダー化された倫理観についての研究を行った^[15]。

2018年、アメリカ社会学会のジェシー・ベルナルド賞の受賞直前に、過去の学生によるキンメルに対する匿名のセクシャル・ハラスメントの告発がされた^[16]。これを受けて、アメリカ社会学会はキンメルの声明を発表。その中で、賞の受賞決定を６ヶ月間延期することを希望した旨と、学会が正式な調査を行えるよう告発者に6ヶ月の間に公式な異議申し立てを行うように促した。The Chronicle of Higher Education紙のインタビューでは、アメリカ社会学会で長年役職を持つ女性社会学者が、キンメルについての似た噂は度々聞いたことがあると証言した^[7]。大学による調査はキンメルが退職を発表したことで行われなかった。その後も、キンメルによる性差別、同性愛差別、デッドネーミングやミスジェンダリングを含むトランス差別を指摘する実名での告発が行われた^[7]。
