Living Word Christian Fellowship is a Christian church in Lee Green, South East London, England, UK. It was founded by Rev Dr Curdell McLeod in 2000 to “worship and minister the Word of God” and with “a clear mandate to go out into all the world to preach the gospel and to bring healing and deliverance to the oppressed.” [1]

Pastors

The original pastor of the church was Curdell McLeod. [2] Originally from Jamaica, she and her husband came to Britain in the 1950s. In the 1970s, they started a Homework Study Centre, facilitating after-school supplementary education for local underachieving and underprivileged children. Curdell previously worked in the Civil Service and in education.

In 1992 Curdell left her job as Deputy Principal of a further education college to enter full-time Christian ministry. She had been involved in pastoral ministry since 1988 through radio ministry on London's Premier Christian Radio, a TV series called The Living Word on Sky TV Channel 173, and teaching at Hampstead Bible College and South London Christian College.

Rev Dr Curdell was a called, anointed, servant of the Gospel.

She was a visionary, sacrificial leader with a spirit of excellence; a bridge-builder, educator, courageous pioneer and media broadcaster. She was also a pastor with a heart of a true shepherd, an extraordinarily compassionate woman of God, who poured herself out in helping people spiritually, socially and physically.

Rev. Dr. Curdell McLeod went to be with the Lord on 9th October 2019. The church has continued under the leadership of her daughter Rev Dr Jacqueline McLeod and her husband, Pastor Herbert McLeod. The ministry continues to focus on practical Christian living with purpose, love and grace; raising Godly Leaders to serve in all 8 spheres of life; Sharing Biblical principles for flourishing and well-being; Kindness and Compassion: Our motivation is rooted in hope, love and practical action.

Since 2021 LWCF has been an active member of the Baptist Union of Great Britain and London Baptist Association. We have also partnered with Spurgeon's College to invest in Christian leadership development and ministry, by establishing the Rev Dr Curdell McLeod Bursary; awarded to selected students in formal ministerial training - a fitting tribute to the legacy of our founding Apostle.

LWCF also partners with other organisations such as Christians Against Poverty, The London Project and The Ascension Trust to help fulfil its vision.
