Kaliyar is a small village in the Idukki district of state Kerala in India .[1] The village is beautiful with a river as a center attraction and a pineapple estate. An area of Kaliyar which is near to the thommankuthu eco park is under forest department of kerala. The town nearby is Vannappuram. Thodupuzha city is 16km away. There are one higher secondarry school St.Mary's Higher secondary School, Kaliyar have classes from pre-kg to plustwo. And one cbse school Jai rani public school, Kaliyar.

As of 2001[update] the India census records Kaliyar had a population of 20000 with 13792 males and 13657 females.[1]
