Indian 3 (also marketed as Indian 3: War Mode) is an upcoming Indian Tamil-language vigilante action film directed by S. Shankar, who co-wrote the script with B. Jeyamohan, Kabilan Vairamuthu and Lakshmi Saravana Kumar. The film is jointly produced by Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies. It is the third installment in the Indian film series and the direct sequel to Indian 2 (2024). The film stars Kamal Haasan in dual roles as Senapathy, an ageing freedom fighter turned vigilante who fights against corruption, and Veerasekaran, a warrior during the British Raj era and Senapathy's father, leading an ensemble cast which includes Siddharth, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, S. J. Suryah, Bobby Simha, Vivek, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Brahmanandam, Samuthirakani and Nedumudi Venu.

Indian 2 was initially intended to be a single film; however, due to the final footage becoming over six hours long, the team later splitted it into two parts. Principal photography commenced in January 2019 and was shot sporadically in several legs over the next four years in Chennai, Rajahmundry, Bhopal, Gwalior, Tirupati, Vijayawada, Johannesburg and Taiwan. Before wrapping in March 2024, a suspension made by an accident that killed some crew members and delay by the COVID-19 pandemic were made. The technical crew includes music composer by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography handled by Ravi Varman and R. Rathnavelu,[b] editing by A. Sreekar Prasad, production design by T. Muthuraj and visual effects supervision by V. Srinivas Mohan.

Indian 3 is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on 24 January 2025 coinciding with Republic Day.

Production

Although Indian 2 was conceived as a single film during production, in June 2023, co-producer Udhayanidhi Stalin, header of Red Giant Movies, stated that they had discussed plans for a sequel to the film.[17] The following month, it was reported that the film would be split into two parts, as the final footage was over six hours long; the latter titled Indian 3, was being shot simultaneously.[18] In October, Ananda Vikatan said around 80% of the footage had been shot for the sequel, and 25 days were needed to complete it.[19] On 24 March 2024, Haasan confirmed the third installment in the franchise; he stated that Indian 3 was shot alongside Indian 2.[20]

Release

In May 2024, Haasan said they were aiming to release Indian 3 on 24th January 2025.[21]
